Spalted Maple Hall Table 1
Spalted maple top; 48 inches long, 17 inches wide, 30 inches high.
Top thickness: 2.2 inches.
Base: Black Walnut
This table top is the widest piece cut from the log which was one of three logs taken from a swamp in RI where it was milled and kiln dried. Both spalted maple tables were cut from the same log and according to the lumber mill owner, "These spalted maple logs are some of the finest I’ve seen in 10 years.”
The unique pattern of this maple piece has the natural grain of the center heartwood unaltered but the outer edges are heavily spalted and the colors of the heartwood changed to shades of pink, green, red and gray which are not normally associated with maple.
A piece of spalted maple this size with this grain pattern is a rare find.
